Bulldog Bulletin

Principal's Message
Dear Bulldog Families,
I hope that 2017 is off to a great start for your family and that you enjoyed time with your family over our winter break. We have jumped back in to learning with both feet as our new semester begins. As Mr. Gorrill and I have been visiting classrooms, we have seen math minds at work exploring new concepts, investigation of new learning materials, engaged readers and writers, and scientists and engineers at work.
As students were arriving at school on Tuesday, I was reminded quickly of how full of wonder and creative ideas they are. It was foggy, and several of the students were sharing their hypotheses regarding why. There are so many ways at both school and home to honor our students’ wonderings and to guide them to resources to find some answers. One great opportunity for scientific wondering is quickly approaching, the New Britton Science Fair. We had our kickoff earlier with Professor Steve, and now it is time to work on proposals for submission. If your student is interested in participating in science fair, please access more information at the link highlighted below.
If your young scientist is interested but you have questions, would like some input, or are struggling to help him/her get started, please come to our informal Science Fair 101 help session this coming Tuesday, January 10 from 6:00-7:00p.m. in the New Britton cafeteria. If you are able to stay for our PTO meeting, we would love to have you join us from 7:00-8:00p.m. in the Media Center.
Please be sure to view your student’s report card in Skyward Family Access. Grades have been posted. As always, if you have any questions regarding your child’s progress, please be sure to call his/her teacher. As always, thank you for partnering with us in education! Have a great weekend.
Please remember to register for science fair HERE.
Sincerely,
Lori Mankin

Parent Drop Off Reminders
Please review the following procedures to help us ensure
safety during morning car rider drop off:
* If you are approaching New Britton (on 131st St.) from the west side of Lantern Road, please continue to the roundabout and double back to turn right into the circle drive. Turning left from 131st Street can cause a significant traffic backup.
* Drop off starts a few minutes before 8:45 a.m. in the circle drive area. Do not drop students off until a staff member opens your car door.
1. Pull up to the first orange cone, staying in single file line in order of arrival. You must be between the orange cones to exit the car.
2. A staff member will open your car door. Students need to exit the car from the door closest to the sidewalk. Do not form a double line or pass other cars, even if your student exits the car before the students in the car in front of you.
3. Once your student has safely exited, a staff member will wave, indicating it is safe to leave.
4. Parking in the circle drive is not allowed as there is not enough room. If you need to enter the building, please wait until after buses have dismissed and park in the main lot.
** Please remember that students are tardy at 8:55. After this time, staff will not be available to assist with drop off. If you need to drop your student off after this time, please park and walk him/her into the building through the main doors.
Thank you for following these reminders and keeping our students and staff safe!
