Calling all ELL Teachers...
The #GoOpenNC initiative has powerful resources to aid in the support of our ELL students. These resources address: Dual Language/Immersion (DL/I) Educators, NC LinguaFolio, and Teachers of English Learners.
Connect with others through the EL Teacher Network, explore instructional resources through the ELD Hub, and get inspired through the podcasts posted weekly on BAM Radio!
All of these and more can be found at #GoOpenNC!
Culturally Relevant and Responsive Teaching!
Are you part of a team that is examining your curriculum for opportunities to be culturally relevant, responsive and sustaining?
Culturally Relevant, Responsive, and Sustaining Teaching (CRT) is instruction that values the life experiences and cultures of all students. "Recognizing the culture of all students builds bridges to deeper understanding."
Join other educators across NC to build the capacity of your team and your resources by participating in Professional Learning on CRT as part of the #GoOpenNC platform. Participants are encouraged to register and participate with a group of 3-6 educators in their school or district within a common content area or grade level.
Register HERE - registration is open through February 22.
Participants are eligible to earn 1.2 CEUs in Digital Learning and 1.0 CEUs in Content Area.
Celebrate Black History Month with First Hand Stories from those who have MADE history!
There is a story told by Dr. Olivia Hooker on being the first black woman to join the U.S. Coast Guard reserves in 1945...to Dion Diamond who shares his 60 years of civil rights activism beginning with sit-ins as a teenager in the 1960's....to modern day heroes like Dr. Hadiyah-Nicole Green who is leading the fight against cancer and her development of non-chemo and non-radiation treatments to find a cure.
Use these stories to discover new perspectives and reflections on our shared history as a nation. Visit Storycorps to find out more!
Digital Learning Day is February 25th!!
This year we want to celebrate ALL the digital learning occurring in our classrooms while we share and learn from one another.
We are offering 0.1 CEU credits in CONTENT to participants who share, through Social Media, an engaging and/or interactive digital activity you have implemented with your students. Include a picture, a brief description of the activity, the content area you teach (for content credit) and, if applicable, a link to any resource you used. We want to use this opportunity to grow & learn from each other! Check out these DLD resources for ideas!
You must tag the district, your school and Digital learning Day on Twitter and/or Instagram to earn credit.
