Happy New Year!
It is hard to believe we are already one month into 2021! We are very happy with the full return of our hybrid students and despite school looking very different this year we are grateful to see our cohorts combined. In walking around the classrooms the feeling of community is apparent and it is almost hard to believe that this is the first time the students are coming together. Thank you to our teachers who once again have shifted their instructional practices to serve our students and for being a steady constant for our kids during such uncharted times.
Our virtual classes continue to impress us with their achievements this year. Through their google meets, community meetings and breakout rooms the classes are making great strides. We've had the opportunity to join all the classes and it was so wonderful to see the children's faces and connect with them for our Pulaski P.R.I.D.E presentation. Thank you to our Virtual Teachers for their hard work and thank you to our parents & guardians for your continued support at home.
Our Pulaski P.R.I.D.E initiative is in full swing with our focus for January being patience. We think we can all agree that patience is something we all need during these challenging times. Please be sure to ask your child how they can show patience at school and make sure that you reinforce when they are showing patience at home.
With COVID-19 still being a concern it is of extreme importance that we remain diligent. Please, do not send your child to school if they are sick. If your child is showing any symptoms of COVID-19, please contact your pediatrician for guidance. Your child should also stay home if:
-They have been in close contact (6 feet or less, for 10+ minutes over 24 hours) with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. Please refer to your pediatrician for quarantine guidelines.
-They have travelled out of the state or internationally (especially important with the upcoming break- please see below for travel guidelines)
For travelers who were out-of-state for more than 24 hours:
- Travelers must obtain a test within three days of departure, prior to arrival in New York.
- The traveler must, upon arrival in New York, quarantine for three days.
- On day 4 of their quarantine, the traveler must obtain another COVID test. If both tests comes back negative, the traveler may exit quarantine early upon receipt of the second negative diagnostic test.
While we cannot avoid COVID-19 entirely we can do our part. The safety of our students, staff, and their families are paramount.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and support.
