Becoming a Wedding Planner
by: Bailey Edinburgh
Hospitality and Business degree
To be a wedding planner the things you need are hospitality skills, and skills in how to run a business and how to manage money. Wedding Planners can earn at an entry level up to $40,000 part time. When they work their way up to being a full time planner you can earn anywhere from $60,000-$90,000 and when you are at the top of your career you could earn anywhere from $100,000-$120,000.
Experience is key
The more experience you have the more business you will get because brides will recommend you to their friends for their weddings. it is best to start early so why not start during high school. if your school offers anything towards things like floral design, hospitality, business, fashion, or cosmetology take it because you never know when you might need it in the field.
Things you do as a wedding planner
Talk to clients and plan events
You meet with your clients to understand how to plan their perfect wedding.
Fashion
You may have to help your bride go shopping for the wedding or choose the colors for things in the wedding like flowers or table clothes but you need a sense of fashion for it all to come together and look cohesive.
Make sure everything goes smoothly
On the day of the event you have to be calm and confident so the bride doesn't get more stressed than she already is.
Be calm, and always be organized!
