NOVEMBER
November 21: Jersey Day to celebrate the start of the World Cup
November 22: Movie and PJ Day- $3.00 donation requested for the Violet Fire Dept.
November 23-25: Thanksgiving Break
Thank You Pickerington families!
We can't thank you enough Pickerington families for your support of the bond issue on Nov. 8! We are so pleased that 57% of voters supported the bond issue for our students, for more space for teaching and learning, and for the future of Pickerington Schools and the entire community as we faced unprecedented growth!
Now with your support, district leaders will begin working right away on implementing the district’s capital plan, which includes the proceeds from the $89.930 million bond issue, to:
- Build a new junior high school that can house up to 1,300 students
- Renovate all of Ridgeview Junior High to convert to a building holding separate kindergarten to fourth grade elementary and fifth to sixth grade middle schools; this creates an eighth elementary school that will house about 450 elementary students, and a fourth middle school that will house about 450 middle school students
- Add 24 additional classrooms at Central High School housing up to 650 students; upgrade the cafeteria, expanding capacity by 200 additional students; install secure entryways
- Add 18 additional classrooms to North High School housing up to 470 additional students; install secure entryways
- Renovate and upgrade multiple elementary schools to accommodate growth, making room for up to 375 additional students.
While it may take awhile for all of the construction to be completed, rest assured we will move forward as quickly as possible and will post updates on our progress, every step of the way. We are so #PLSDProud of the confidence you have demonstrated in the district at the polls, and we are ready and eager to do the work that will continue to make Pickerington Schools a destination district that is Educating for Tomorrow.
In need of donations for our ice cream reward!
For the month of November we worked on being accountable for our own actions. For any student that has been showing accountability, completed all iReady requirements, has no missing assignments, and has not had ISS/OSS will get to go the the Ice Cream Sundae Event.
Please use the sign up genius to help us celebrate the great work of our students this month.
An accountable person doesn't need someone to tell them what to do. Accountability means you have the ability, discipline, and vision to make the right choices and do the right things for your life. Responsible, accountable students collaborate with others, ask for help when needed, and use all of the resources available to them in order to take responsibility for themselves and their learning.

Register your child for the Diley Middle School spelling bee program
Dear Parents,
This year, we will use the Scripps National Spelling Bee’s online testing platform to hold our spelling bee via an online spelling test.
The first step to spelling bee participation for your child is registering for the online testing platform by visiting https://online-test.spellingbee.com.
I encourage you to watch this video tutorial that will walk you through the registration process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ThKRsffiFc
Once you have registered, we will be able to assign the appropriate test to your child. Your child will take the test at school on December 8th.
The students with the highest scores will move on to compete at the school level bee. This year, our school-level competition will be administered in person in January 2023.
Our school champion will then move on to represent Diley Middle School in the next level of the regional spelling bee program, which also may include online tests in lieu of in-person spelling bee events.
Remember, the first step to spelling bee participation is to register at https://online-test.spellingbee.com. Please register your child at your earliest convenience as we will begin assigning tests to students soon. If you have already registered in the online testing platform for another child, you can log in to your account and add an additional child to that same parent account. There is no need to register a different email address for each child in your household.
Please reach out to me if you have any questions about our school spelling bee program. I look forward to having your child compete to represent our school!
**Please note that the student will need to know the email and password chosen when you sign up**
Sincerely,
Heather Ferns
