The Stallion Stampede
Janie Stark Elementary Parent Newsletter
January 24, 2021
Dear Stallion Families,
There are so many exciting things happening this week at Stark! We will be hosting our first ever Virtual Family Literacy Night and sharing engaging stories and strategies with you and your child. You will not want to miss it! Set your alarms to tune in Thursday at 6:00 pm!
Additionally, Friday is our 100 Days of School! If there was ever a reason to celebrate 100 days, it is this year! We have had an amazing 100 days and can't wait to celebrate Friday. This year, your child can dress like a 100-year old or decorate a 100 day shirt! Remote or traditional, we hope your child can join the fun.
These are the days that are so precious in elementary school! One of the many reasons I believe these will always be the BEST of days!
To the BEST of days,
Mrs. Putman

Virtual Family Literacy Night
This is a time for you and your child to cuddle up and listen to the staff read aloud! Teachers will be interacting with students but we ask that parents direct any questions about the strategies to your child's teacher through email or ParentSquare after the evening concludes.
Additionally, we will be sending home free books with your child so you have additional books to read with your child each evening. If your child is a remote learner, we will have drive-by/pick-up times for you to swing by and grab books for your child. Stay tuned!
Thursday evening, I will share the link to all live sessions through ParentSquare.
We hope you join us!

100th Day of School
This Friday, January 29th, we will be celebrating the 100th day of school! Each classroom will be doing activities based around numbers and combinations to 100.
We invite all students (remote and traditional) to decorate and wear a t-shirt representing the number 100 by gluing, drawing, or sticking 100 objects to the t-shirt (this will need to be done at home if your child chooses to participate). OR Students may dress like they are 100 years old!
Participation is completely optional. If they choose to create and decorate a t-shirt or dress like a 100-year old, they may wear it to school on Friday, January 29th. Please feel to be creative with your child!

CFBISD Calendar Change
CFBISD has made a change to the calendar for the 2021 spring semester. This change is for our educators to have additional days to develop and plan for increased student engagement in the classroom. The district has approved four additional professional development and teacher preparation days. This will impact the type of instruction for traditional learners on these days. Traditional students will NOT attend class on campus on the following days:
- February 26, 2021
- March 26, 2021
- April 16, 2021
- May 7, 2021
Teachers will assign engaging lessons to complete asynchronously at home on the days listed above for both traditional and virtual learners. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you need technical support.
Your cooperation and flexibility are appreciated as it allows our teachers and staff to continue to provide the best instructional opportunities for the success of our students.
