Family Newsletter

Hello everyone-

This week just flew by we had so much fun! We had our first graders walk to the Magic House, our 5th graders did Rise & Shine donuts with their families and friends, french fry parties, and lots of other fun classroom specific fun happenings. We had our MNIA Scholars night and student, Ricquel was recognized. Click here to view the video. Way to go! Congrats Ava for being the ultimate UNO champion this week! Families also had fun at the Many Cultures One Kirkwood event! We welcomed our future roadrunners with the Kindergarten open house and scavenger hunt- what fun!

Thank you to our families for sending in things, participating, and thank you to our staff for making memories with our kiddos. The last two years have been so hard on everyone and it has been so good to see and hear the joy that we are all having together. It is so nice to be together and bringing back the traditions of Robinson.

Please pay attention to the calendar and your teacher newsletters as we have so many events coming up to celebrate the end of the year together.

This week is Staff Appreciation Week and we celebrate our Nurse Day on Wednesday. Thank you to our PTO staff appreciation committee and all the parents who made donations to make this week awesome!

Please reach out at any time to share any questions, concerns, or ideas. I am here to help and support you and your family. Thanks for all you do to help keep our students and staff safe.

Take Care-

Staffing Updates for the '22-'23 School Year

Hi everyone-

I waned to provide a few staffing updates for next year. Please send emails/cards to our staff members to wish them well!

Dr. Christina Wilson- Assistant Principal

2nd Grade-

Mrs. Boxx will be moving to the open 4th grade position.

Mrs. Driscoll will be transferring to North Glendale where her children go to school.

Due to low enrollment numbers we will have 3 sections of 2nd grade for the '22-'23 school year.

4th Grade-

Mrs. Pam Harris is retiring and looking forward to spending time with her family

Mrs. Julie Cohen has accepted a position at Lindbergh School District where she will serve two buildings.

Mrs. Tonya Ampey-Elong will continue to serve KSD as social worker in four buildings. The district has added a second counselor to every elementary building which means that Mrs. Harris will now be paid from KSD funds and as a title building we will now have a full time social worker.

Special School District-

Ali Lynch, Jennifer O'Connell, and Leia Cheatham- as previously announced we will have one full time speech language pathologist rather than two part timme staff.

Looping returns for '22-'23

The students who will be in 2nd grade for the '22-'23 school year will begin a 2nd-3rd grade loop. This means that students will have the same teacher and classmates for 2nd and 3rd. grade. The 2nd to 3rd grade transition is typically the hardest one for our students as the academic rigor increases and students' peer relationships begin to have a greater impact on their wellbeing. Our teachers in 2nd and 3rd grade will have professional development to prepare for this and ensure that they are ready for this change. We are excited to make this shift as we know that this will have a positive impact on our students.

Spring KSD Survey

Kirkwood’s spring survey window is open for all students, staff, and families to complete Round Two of Panorama surveys. Your input informs ongoing efforts related to our strategic plan, both at our schools and the district level. Each school has strategic plan goals tied to survey data, and high participation rates will be essential to these efforts. The survey for students and families will be the same as was administered in the fall.

Just as we did in the fall, we are partnering with Panorama Education. Panorama safeguards your privacy, keeping your responses confidential. The survey will be a valuable source of information for us as we work to make our schools and District as good as we can be.

Please click here to take our survey by May 13:

Happy Spring!

Many have heard the buzz around school that students are humming Spring Sing songs ---and it's true! We are going to have a Spring Sing this year! On Thursday, May 19th, Kindergarten through 5th grade students will perform, in our gym, for their families!

1:50pm: Kindergarten, 2nd & 4th

PTO ticket sales for Robinson Night at the Ballpark are closed, and we unfortunately cannot take any new orders. We sold nearly 600 tickets! This is a new record which means we need a little extra time to organize all the tickets for pick-up. For those who have already submitted payment, tickets will be available for pick-up starting Monday, May 9th at Robinson's office. We unfortunately can't send the tickets home in backpacks to ensure all the tickets are received by the appropriate family.

For families that missed the ticket sales or need additional tickets, you may purchase tickets through the Cardinal's online ticket sales or box office. Please note, the $20/ticket was a group sale price so online ticket purchases will vary. Our Robinson community will be sitting between sections 165 and 168 if you would like to sit close.

We look forward to cheering on our Robinson choir and the Cardinals on May 24th!

Stuck on Literacy - Robinson Roadrunners Reading Challenge

The kids are begging to tape me to the wall still and so I am going to be challenging them to read 2 books at home from now until the end of the year. If we reach our Robinson Roadrunners Reading Challenge of reading 1,000 books at home before May 16th, we will let the kids tape me to the exterior wall of the gym for Field Day on the 20th. A paper for parents to complete will be sent home in the backpack on Monday. Students just turn the sheets into the teacher on May 16th- we will count however many books each child reads toward the goal, so one student reads extra it may cover those who did not return any reading. Good luck Roadrunners- read away!

Robinson PTO Board Needs Volunteers for 22-23 School Year

The Robinson PTO is looking for parents and guardians to join the PTO board for the upcoming school year! Worried that you won't have enough time? Or maybe that it's not the right fit? Well, have no fear! We are a fun bunch of parents who too just want to help our school community.

All open board positions are "elect" positions which means you will work alongside the current board member for a year before transitioning into the role. We recognize many of us are stretched thin in life and couldn't imagine carving out any extra time. But this type of community service really is rewarding especially when you see the joy on our students' and teachers' faces.

If we have a strong, diverse team we can strike a balance with time commitment and will be more successful at building a Robinson community that is connected, engaging and enriched!

All are welcome! Please contact us as if you would like to hear more or are interested in joining our Board.
