Land and Climate
- The most dense place in Puerto Rico is the Eastern coast.
- About comined size of Delaware and Rhode Island.
- The climate is mildly tropical average of 70-80F year-round.
- The territory has had a devastating past with deadly hurricanes.
History and Government
- In 1917 Puerto Rico became a territory of the U.S. after the Spanish American war.
- They do not pay federal income tax, and they do not vote in U.S. elections.
- They are wanting to become a official U.S. state.
Tourism, agriculture, Manufacturing
- Only 3% of the population is engaged in agriculture.
- 20% of the population is in the indusrial sector.
- The gonvernment services, and tourism , provide the most jobs.
- They currently use the U.S. dollaras the currency
