Peer Counselor Job Opportunity
The Summer Owl Leadership Experience is a unique and new opportunity that Temple is offering to upcoming juniors and seniors from local Philadelphia and tri-state area high schools. This program will prepare students for campus life and give them the first-hand experience they need to jump start their college career. Students who attend S.O.L.E. will choose one (1) three (3) credit course in business, health professions, media and communications, or science. These students are also eligible for a scholarship upon the completion of this program.
Peer Counselors (PCs) help create a community that encourages and supports intellectual curiosity, cultural awareness, free exchange of ideas, social interaction, and a joy for learning. PCs ensure the physical and emotional safety of students, and develop a fun, dynamic, and engaging activities. The PC supervises students to ensure that university policies and program expectations are followed. PC commitments also include attendance at daily meetings and work on committees to plan all-site events. PCs’ working hours are primarily the hours students are not in class (including weekends).
Your role:
As a Peer Counselor (PC) you will be supervising up to 10 S.O.L.E students while students are not in class including weekends.
Time commitment:
Required 40 hours a week. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays. Employment Period: July 6, 2015 - July 31, 2015 you will be solely dedicated to the Summer Owls Leadership Experience.
