Kindness: Our Social Emotional Focus for December
For many cultures, various holidays and festivals are celebrated in December. So, for this month, we selected the word "Kindness". Each staff member works to add a quote with their signature that is reflective or our word choice. As opportunities permit, students who exhibit the trait in their class are entered into a drawing where at the end of the month, they can have their name drawn to receive a $10.00 gift card. We select and recognize three students each month. We also have various visuals around our space as reminders of these words.
Students receiving this incentive for exemplifying Kindness in December are: RJ F., Makayla H., and Omar S. F.

1st Semester Report Cards - Tentative Grades Available in PowerSchool on December 19
Our second quarter ends Thursday, December 17. Teachers will input grades in PowerSchool on Friday, December 18. These grades will be a snapshot of the end of the quarter.
The district again has graciously allowed students earning Ds and Fs an additional two weeks to submit incomplete work, which will permit students a chance to bring their grades up. All second quarter work must be submitted by 3 p.m. on Friday, January 15.
While students have nearly a month to complete this work, our teachers suggest completing this incomplete work prior to returning to school on January 4, as the beginning of a new quarter and having a new semester classes can be overwhelming.
Log In to PowerSchool on January 3 to Review Your Schedule
Please do not email Ms. Guidi regarding schedule changes until school resumes in early January. The adjustments due to class size and credit recovery must be complete before any other schedule requests can be entertained.

A Note from Our Partners at NCH Behavioral Health
Hello 9X Families!
We are the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Behavioral Health Reynoldsburg team. We started a new partnership with Reynoldsburg City Schools will be providing mental health support services to your district.
December can be a difficult time for everyone, but particularly children and adolescents. Schedules and structure at home and school tend to be a bit “off” due to winter break, excitement regarding upcoming holidays, class parties, visiting family, etc. This year we have the added struggle of the pandemic and plans being cancelled, traditions broken, empty chairs at the tables, and the looming fear of illness. Remember that these issues impact not only you but your children as well. Children and adolescents tend not to tell us exactly how they are feeling so sometimes we assume they are “fine”. However, look out for changes in mood, isolation, clinginess, and increased anxiety/worries as your guide to how your child is feeling.
Ways to support your child during the COVID holiday season:
- Be creative – Find ways to continue with old traditions with a quarantine twist. Usually go to a relative’s house for Christmas dinner? Set up a zoom dinner instead. Have your child help with cooking.
- Be curious – Ask your child how they feel about recent changes. One big change for our Reynoldsburg students is the return to virtual learning. Reflect back to your own childhood and try to image how you would feel if you were in their shoes. Share those thoughts with them.
- Be kind – To others, but also to yourself. This is a difficult time for everyone. Be understanding of your child’s potential mood swings but also be understanding to yourself. None of us expected the year to end this way and it has been more challenging than we anticipated. We are all doing our best during this difficult moment in history.
If you are curious about the services we provide, feel free to contact Mrs. Huntsberger at 614-501-4019 or Ms. Guidi at 614-501-4013 for more information.
9X Office will be Closed until January 4, 2021
The 9X Office will close at 1 p.m. on December 18, and reopen on Monday, January 4. All of us at 9X wish you and your family a safe and happy season!
