February Newsletter for BCIS Families

Dear BCIS Families,
What a crazy few days of Winter Weather we have had! Thank you all for your flexibility and understanding as we have navigated unscheduled remote days as well as unplanned Snow Days. Just a reminder that the days that school has been cancelled will have to be made up later in the semester. Those make up days will be announced at a later date.
While we are out of school most Fridays this semester, we do still have a few Remote Fridays. You will find all of the Fridays and Remote Learning Days listed in the Mark Your Calendar Section of this newsletter. Please take time to read the newsletter. You can also keep up with BCIS through our Facebook Page and Class Dojo.
February is here! And with it comes Group and Spring Picture Day, National School Counseling Week, Kindness Week, and Valentine Grams.
Important Reminders:
- Group and Spring Picture Day, February 8
- Valentines Day Information: Teachers will be sending out information regarding individual class celebrations, please keep an eye out for those sign ups. Guidelines regarding deliveries: All deliveries will be held at the Intermediate office until the end of the school day. Deliveries that contain balloons, glass containers, or oversized stuffed animals will not be allowed on the buses for safety reasons.
- Before/After School Schedule:
8:20 Doors Open - Please do not drop your children off prior to 8:20 as there is no supervision before that time. (Students will either go to the cafeteria for breakfast or go directly to the gym.) Once inside the gym, students will be provided a quiet, calm environment where they will be given an opportunity to enjoy some silent reading.
8:40 Breakfast Ends (Students should be at school by 8:35 if they wish to eat breakfast.)

- Attendance Matters: In order to give your student every opportunity for success, please prioritize daily attendance.
Please take a moment to read pages 10-12 of the BCIS Handbook (linked below) to familiarize yourself with Attendance Requirements. It is important to note that any student missing more than 7 days of school per semester may be subject to retention.

BEST Bobcat Awards
Beginning in January, teachers and staff began intentionally looking for exceptionally good behavior from our students. Students exhibiting these characteristics are given tickets that will are placed in a drawing. Drawings for Sonic Drinks are held weekly with additional drawings held periodically throughout the semester and names drawn will receive prizes! If you would like to donate to this new Positive Behavior Program, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Attendance Matters
Students who miss NO MORE THAN 3 school days (for any reason) in each nine weeks will be eligible for a reward at the end of each quarter...More Information to come.
