Newsworthy happenings at George Washington Elementary

Summer 2019 Edition

Introducing the new Principal at George Washington...

Mrs. Heather Davis has been the Keokuk High School Assistant Principal the last 4 years. Prior to being in administration, Mrs. Davis was a middle school science teacher at Central Lee and a high school biology teacher at Burlington. She is a certified K-6 Classroom teacher and 5-12 Science teacher. She completed her student teaching at Wells-Carey Elementary with the late Mrs. Wrieden. She is a life-long resident of Lee County and very excited to be part of the George Washington Elementary and KCSD family! Her educational belief is simple...All kids are worth it, every day!

While you have been relaxing...

Our maintenance and grounds crews have been hard at work! A special thanks to Mr. Grogan, Mrs. Leisenring, and Mr. Land for adding the beautiful landscaping on the corner of Concert and North 8th street. The day lilies will be gorgeous when they begin to bloom! There will be more changes as the summer progresses with our maintenance crews making changes inside. The cleaning crews have been working diligently to make the building spic-n-span for our return in August.

A shout out to our technology guru, Dustin, for getting all of our Chromebooks ready. There will be a cart in EVERY classroom this next year!

So much K-Pride at George Washington awaits the 2019-2020 school year!

PikMyKid Dismissal Service

New to GW this year will be a new app for parents to use for easier dismissal for their children. No more writing notes or calling the school because with this app, parents can notify the school of a change in dismissal and when they are at the school to pick up their student. More information and how to use this system will be available very soon!
