West Point El. Parent Update
Week of December 4, 2023
Dear West Point Families,
Thank you for supporting our Toys for Tots fundraiser. We are counting final donations and will announce the top two class winners to our students when we are finished. We are excited that our Student Council will be able to go shopping and provide a nice Christmas for a special family.
Here are three important things to know for the coming week.
- Our West Point Elementary Choir Concert is this Tuesday, December 5. Due to the size of our coir, we will be holding two performances. If you will be attending the concert, please follow this schedule: 6:00 for last names A-L, 7:30 for last names M-Z.
- Reminder about drop off and pickup loop at the front of the school: Please remember that we cannot park cars in the loop and get out of them to have conversations or to go into the school. This causes huge problems, including cars getting backed up into the main road. Thank you for your help.
- Yearbooks can now be purchased on myDSD. The cost is $15 through the end of December. The price will go up to $18 starting in January.
We hope you have a great week!
Sincerely,
Marjorie Conrad and Michelle Yoho
Principal and Assistant Principal, West Point Elementary

December DSD Mental Health Series for Parents
As we approach the holiday season and the end of the calendar year, we wanted to bring to your attention a crucial and timely topic that directly concerns the well-being of our children – “Talking with Your Child about Pornography”.
In today's digital age, the prevalence of explicit content is a reality that cannot be ignored. Shockingly, studies show that at least 90% of children will be exposed to pornography at some point, and an alarming 10% admit to daily viewing. Equally concerning is that the average age of first exposure is just 11 years old.
To address this pressing issue, Davis School District is offering a parent series session on December 13th from 6:30-7:30 via Zoom. Key topics that will be covered during the session include:
- Seek Understanding
- Getting comfortable with the Uncomfortable
- What NOT to say or Do
We understand that discussing pornography with your child may be a difficult and uncomfortable task, but it is an essential conversation to have. We encourage you to attend this informative session and join us in taking a proactive stance in safeguarding our children's well-being.

Holiday Service Opportunities
Davis Foundation - Jr. High Sub for Santa
Dear Friends,
We are grateful for your continued support of the Davis Education Foundation and our mission to provide resources and opportunities for students in the Davis School District. As the holiday season approaches, we invite you to join us in our annual Jr High Spree or Sub for Santa program, a fun and easy way to help junior high-aged students who face significant financial hardship.
On our website, you will find a collection of festive ornaments, each representing a school in our district. You can select any ornament to see the Amazon wish list of that school, where you can purchase items that will go directly to the students who need them most. You can also click on the stocking to make a cash donation.
Participating in this program will brighten the holidays for these students and also show them that they are valued and cared for by their community. You will also help them focus on their education and personal growth, rather than worrying about their basic needs.
Please visit our website https://www.daviseducationfoundation.org/holiday/subforsanta to start shopping or donating. Thank you for your support and generosity!
Sincerely,
Davis Education Foundation
