pta volunteer opportunities
1. Teacher/Faculty Lunch – Tuesday, October 12th The first lunch was such a success that we’re excited to offer another one!
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/805054DACAE2AA13-october
2. Teacher Appreciation – We want to open up the planning for Teacher Appreciation next spring to additional volunteers. Our goal is for it to be a short-term commitment for anyone who wants to volunteer but might not have been ready or able to commit to a year of being on PTA. We will have a meeting in November, a meeting in February and then any additional help the actual week in April. The two meetings will be in the evening to allow any working parents who want to participate to join in the planning fun. The sign-up genius below gives all of these details and will allow parents to show interest in volunteering and then we will communicate via email going forward.
library news
It's back!! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school October 18-21!!
Our Scholastic Book Fair will be October 18-21. This is our main fundraiser for the library so that we can buy new library books! Here are the details:
- Please see the schedule here to see when your child shops.
- Please set up your eWallet between now and Oct. 21. Just go to https://www.scholastic.com/bf/greystoneelementaryschool and scroll down to the green eWallet section. Click "Get Started" and add your information. Mrs. Richey will get a notification when you set up your eWallet and print out all necessary information for your child.
- We accept cash (in envelope with name and Book Fair on it!) and checks (payable to Greystone Elementary), but eWallet is preferred!!
- Students will be eligible for prizes if they use eWallet!
- Students will be shopping on their own this year. Parents are not permitted to shop with your child.
- Note the change this year that all remaining eWallet funds after 10/21 will become a gift card balance to be used online with Scholastic or to fund eWallet for a future Book Fair.
- If you have any special instructions, such as "No posters" or "Buy a book for the teacher or library if there are any funds left", etc., please write them on the envelope or an eWallet printout.
- If using a check (payable to Greystone Elem.), please write a Do Not Exceed amount on the check or envelope. I cannot give change from checks that are already made out for a certain amount - the student will have to spend the full amount or donate the remaining funds.
- Your child will have the opportunity to pre-order the new Wimpy Kid book, Big Shot. The paperback book costs $10.00 and your child will pay for it at the Book Fair. The book will be published on October 26 and Mrs. Richey will deliver the book to your child at school as soon as she receives them, on or near October 26.
- Questions? Email Mrs. Richey at jrichey@hoover.k12.al.us or call 205-439-3242.
