School Site Council is an elected committee composed of equal numbers of staff and parent/community representatives who serve a two-year term. We meet at least five times a year on Tuesday afternoons. This committee is responsible for goal setting, deciding how to spend Title 1 funds, and evaluating Laurel Elementary’s programs to improve our students’ educational experience. To nominate yourself or another family/community member, please click the button below OR use the blue form going home in students backpacks this week!
English Learner Advisory Council (ELAC) is an elected advisory board that supports the school with planning and monitoring the English Learner plan to support Multilingual Learners. The percentage of parents of Multilingual Learners serving on the committee must be greater or equal to the percentage of English Learners enrolled in the school. To nominate yourself or another family/community member, please click the button below OR use the yellow form going home in students backpacks this week!
Dinosaur School (or The Incredible Years) for Parents is an incredible opportunity from our Palomar Family Counseling Partners. This class meets weekly on Wednesdays an is an incredible opportunity to learn skills to help your child at home and school. I (Ms. Hendricks) have been a school administrator for more than 10 years and this is one of the BEST opportunities I have seen for parents. See the flyer in the Upcoming Events for more info!
Check out next week's Lion Letter for more information on PTO and Community Schools!

Food 4 Kids Backpack Program
The Food 4 Kids Backpack Program provides weekly FREE weekend food packages to elementary school students to support students from going hungry over the weekend when free school meals are unavailable. Last year we had over 75 students participate!
We understand prices are high and times are tough. If this could help and you are interested in participating, please ask our front office for the Backpack Program Referral Form and fill it out and turn it in. We will contact you and assist you with getting in the program.
