Teaching Fellows & Teacher Cadets
December 2014 Brief
Senior Cohort Video Capsule
Our senior cohort will be entering their clinical internship this spring semester. This means they will not participate in our weekly Wednesday meetings. We will celebrate their accomplishments during the Spring Banquet on April 22, 2014. Join us in celebrating their journey to this time in their academic career by watching their video capsule. Don't worry, it is brief :)

Advocate Projects
The Teaching Fellows are off to a great start with their advocacy projects. Class of 2016 held a very successful debate with Dr. Hale, a representative from SCEA, and representatives from Students First.
Mentor/Mentee Program
Our mentoring activities has grown in capacity and purpose. It no longer is just for freshmen. It has expanded to support males and students from underrepresented backgrounds. YAY!
Morogoro Children's Fund
Great strides has been made this semester to organize and plan for the launch of a website. Jewelry made by Dr. Cozart and Angela Hilton (TF cohort of 2016) will be for sale on the website. All proceeds will be used to provide the meals to children enrolled in school in Morogoro, Tanzania.
About the Program
Administered by the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention and Advancement (CERRA), the Teaching Fellows Program provides a $24,000 scholarship/loan for a selected number of outstanding high school seniors annually. These candidates wish to pursue a degree in education and a career in South Carolina’s public schools following graduation. The Scholarship is divided among four years and grants $5700 towards a student’s tuition and $300 for summer enrichment programs each year. A Fellow is required to teach in a South Carolina public or magnet school for each year he or she receives the scholarship.

First Year Seminar & Teacher Cadet Sites
As a part of their coursework, freshman Teacher Cadets are assigned to visit, observe, and interview the teacher cadet classes across the 8 teacher cadet sites. The Teacher Cadet Instructors, teacher cadet students, and Teaching Fellows all agree this was a very successful experience. We appreciate all the effort each Teacher Cadet Instructor made to accommodate the visits, observations, and interviews.
