4K End of the Week Report
Week of May 1st
Highlights from our week
Ocean Animals!
This week is all about the ocean and the animals that live there! We read stories, like "Commotion in the Ocean" and moved our bodies to the ocean jam!
I can use lines to build letter C and O and the number 7.
This week we learned the letters C and O. When we learn a new letter we first build it with lines and curves. Next we use mini chalk boards and chalk to write the letter. Then we take a magic sponge and erase the letter just like we wrote starting at the top. The next day we use pencil and markers to trace and write the letter. We learned that all letters start at the top. We also learned the letter C and O sound and thought of words that start with the letters C and O. Ask you child to think of words that start with these letters. Each week a practice sheet(s) will come home with your child in their red folder. Please return the sheet(s) on the following week.
This week we also learned the number 7.
I can 1:1 count to 12. I can identify numbers 1-12.
Students rolled dice and practiced counting the dots to know what number to cover on the octopus sheet. This helped 4K practice identifying numbers 1-12 and counting.
During circle time, we read the story "The Rainbow Fish." Rainbow fish did not want to share his scales and was sad to be lonely. In the end rainbow fish learned that he felt happy to share his shiny scales and have friends! To extend our learning, in the art area we did a rainbow fish art project. Students bingo dotted or water colored their fish and got to add a "shiny scale."
