In the Peel District School Board there are many opportunities to continue to learn and grow as a professional and the decision was made to continue along this journey of professional growth in becoming an Elementary Instructional Resource Teacher. This opportunity provided an even larger view of the system and the many components that work in harmony to provide outstanding services for students and families. Becoming an "RT" saw my portfolio grow to seven schools (previously four) and extend to all areas of the curriculum. This new role also provided many opportunities to work as a collaborative team of educators (superintendents, ministry officers, coordinators, special education resource staff, administrators and technology specialists) reaching more teachers and ultimately more students in the system.
It is hard to account for all of the learning that I have consumed and embraced over the last eight years, and once again at the end of three years another important decision was required. There are many components to consider when faced with career decisions - too many to go into here. I have chosen to return to the classroom and try out many new ideas with grade three students (a grade that I have not yet had the opportunity to teach in my 21 years of teaching).
There are many people who influence your decisions and many people to thank for the wonderful journey that is now at it's end. That is why I have chosen to create a few inspirational slideshows that hopefully will inspire my colleagues.
Off to a closer location to face new challenges, meet new people, encourage questions, curiosity, and share my passion for learning! There really is no better profession in the world!
