RHHS Wildcats: News You Can Use
#WEareRH - Summer Edition - July 12, 2018
Back to school Blood Drive!
RHHS will be hosting our 2nd Annual Back-to-school Blood Drive on Friday, August 3rd, 8am-2pm, in the RHHS West Campus Gym. Click below and see the poster below for additional information. Every pint counts - please give!
Taking care of our students - PowerSchool
This year, Bryan County Schools is implementing online registration. Historically, students registering for Bryan County Schools would have to complete a stack of papers and then that information would have to be transferred to PowerSchool by a school representative. The online registration process should improve efficiency as well as accuracy. Allowing the parent to input the information electronically removes any chance for a clerical error.
Another update is an annual review electronically of your child's demographic information. Parents will be able to log onto PowerSchool from any computer with internet access and review the information that is on file. If changes are necessary, these can be made electronically; if no changes are needed, the user simply verifies that the information is correct. We hope to use this electronic review of information this year if the update is ready in time.
I am asking you to take time now to make sure you, as a parent/guardian, have access to PowerSchool. Do you know how to access the Parent Portal? Do you have a username and password? If you do not, please click this link and give us some information so that we can get in touch with you and help you get access to PowerSchool.
Making sure that our parents have access to PowerSchool so that this information can be routinely verified for accuracy is part of our commitment to taking care of our students. In an emergency situation, we need access to accurate contact information for you and your child's emergency contacts. Additionally, our notification system uses email addresses from PowerSchool to send out the school and district level notifications. Electronic communications such as these newsletters as well as more time sensitive announcements (such as with inclement weather notifications) are only effective if the intended recipient actually receives it.
Thank you for helping us maintain accurate information and helping us take care of your child.

Principal
Student schedules
Student schedules should be accurate for a large majority of our students. If a student has an error or a class missing in his/her schedule, he/she will submit a schedule change request electronically. The schedule change request link will be published on the RHHS website on Friday, July 20th.
Summer reading and summer assignments
All students attending RHHS for the 2018-2019 school year will have some sort of summer reading assignment. To illustrate our commitment to success and to maintain reading levels, ALL students, regular, honors, and advanced placement, are required to read at least one book over the summer. The grade level and book choices are provided on the RHHS website in the link below.
Additionally, students enrolled in honors level or AP level mathematics, science, English, and social studies courses may have summer reading, research, or other activities and assignments. Please use the link below. You may click on the various core content areas to see the summer assignments for your child’s courses as well as contact information for the course instructors.

Open House - Thursday, August 2nd
This year, RHHS is offering an informal Open House from noon-5pm for returning 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. These students/parents may visit the school between 12-5pm on August 2nd to visit their child's advisor and meet teachers. It is less formal because these students are returning to RHHS and generally have fewer questions than our rising 9th graders and new students. I encourage returning students and their parents to use this option if they would like. Returning students are certainly always welcome during the formal Open House, 5-7pm.
School start time changing
School begins on Monday, August 6th at 7:30am.
