The ACTS Group
November 2014 News
Word from the Director
On October 23, I was in New York City for Movement Day – www.movementday.org – with leaders from over 300 cities around the nation and the world, and nine fantastic leaders from our Sacramento/Capital region. It was a privilege to be asked to share a report from the platform in the Gospel Movements break out session on what is happening in Sacramento. The presentation began with showing the “Unstoppable” video produced for City Pastors Fellowship - http://vimeo.com/107183274 . I found myself watching this video from the stage, and watching the engaged faces of those watching, and getting choked up! What magnificent leaders we have for the church in our city! It has been many times that the line Coach Jim Harbaugh uses with the 49ers – who’s got it better than us? NOBODY!” – goes through my mind when thinking of all that God is doing in our great city.

Q Commons Sacramento
It has been a few weeks since the incredible evening spent at the first Q Commons Sacramento. Business Consultant Brian Dowd described the night this way: “Having been to my share of conferences with some knowledge of the plethora available, I described Q to my wife as the conference we would most likely want to actually attend. Good questions, thoughtful responses, quality people speaking, listening and engaging. I found last night to be positive stimulation. Even more valuable in my book, I really, really appreciated having so many leaders of our region together in one spot. It was a great chance to interact with people, but I also love that they were there to think together.”
Thank you to all who came for your involvement and attendance. It was an amazing night of sharing with dynamic talks from both the national broadcast, as well as the leaders in our region. We heard from Scott Hagan, Taro Arai, Enoch Yeung, Donna Trumbo and Edward Mananasala, who all did an amazing job! An extra thank you, as well, to our sponsors - 95 West, 3 Strands, and Jesus Culture Sacramento. THANK YOU!
Serve Sacramento a Leader at the City Table
Serve Sacramento Director Megan McCleary was amazed at how coming to a meeting in the Spring for the newly formed “Faith to Serve” collaborative initiated by Sacramento Steps Forward could turn into an opportunity to take the lead on a vital resource. Serve Sacramento had been introduced to app developer Eric Jung who was working on a concept that could help Serve Sacramento link individuals to causes and service opportunities in the region. In a recent “Faith to Serve” meeting, Eric shared the beta version of the app to a board room that included the key city, police, non-profit and business leaders concerned for its implementation. Megan shares that "Gelper is a mobile app that connects people to the non-profit community. With Gelper you can follow all of the social media pages of non-profits from your dashboard. You can also sign up for events in the Event Calendar and donate directly from the app. With the Gelper Mobile App, you will always be connected to the good work being done to change your community and your world!" This app is soon to launch in the Sacramento region in conjunction with Season of Service 2015 in January.
New Prayer Initiative
Out of the good experience with “Worship Prayer Healing” in September and the requests coming in for support, SacramentoPRAYS is developing a team of people who have a heart to pray for others and can be part of a regional prayer team. This regional prayer team will be equipped and ready when needed, to pray with others at regional events. Those who go through the training and are accepted will be placed on a list and receive occasional invitations to serve on altar ministry teams. The goal is identify and deploy an army of regional intercessors trained to respond when needed to bless our region. Interested? Whether you are new to praying for others or a seasoned intercessor, you will be blessed, inspired and impacted by attending a training where we explore “heart” issues, operating in power and authority, as well as healthy prayer guidelines.

Leading In These Times
Leading In These Times was an amazing event. After months of planning, the event was a smashing success. Hundreds came out to discuss Racial Reconciliation in our city and to hear from leaders in breakout sessions on topics that helped people connect to what God is doing in Sacramento.
The ACTS team was strongly involved. Leaders from our Advisory Board spoke, including Pastor Joy Johnson, John Jackson and Bishop Parnell Lovelace. Jeff Kreiser was strongly involved in the planning phases and was part of the discussion on service in the community. Megan McCleary, director of Serve Sacramento led the break out session on Service and Keith Young spoke on service in Elk Grove. Judy Trent-Whitnack and Adena Hodges, of SacramentoPRAYS, also led the break out session on Intercession
