AC vs DC
Alternating Current and Direct Current
By: Aaron
Introduction
Imagine a power that is useful. Every day you use a power half of the world uses every day not polluting as much, as the other kind of electricity, it’s Alternating current short form AC. There’s another type what we use in batteries or solar cells and some more things it’s Direct current short form DC. You will learn about the makers and about AC DC electricity and the makers Nikola Tesla and Thomas Alva Edison.
Alternating Current
Alternating current is fast like Ferrari, and definitely faster than DC current. It can go farther than DC which means less pollution. AC electricity changes ways every 60 seconds the electricity turns around in AC. Transformer’s make the AC electricity have 100 volts it also can go to 1,000,000 volts. Usually max speed is about 600 miles per hour that's really fast. Nikola Tesla is the one who made AC work. DC projects were dangerous because it could make the place on fire were they were doing it AC is dangerous to.
Direct Current
Direct current is different than AC current it does not go as far as AC it's not as useful any more as AC. DC is bad because when they used it at new York there was way more factories so it was dirty. Nowadays DC is used for batteries and solar cells and some more things. Thomas Alva Edison was the one who made DC work his company was the biggest every one used DC after AC came every one used AC.
Nikola Tesla
Nikola Tesla is an inventor who changed our world. He was a Serbian American inventor who made AC work. He was a great inventor he lived from 1856-1943. After he found out about AC everyone used it after he had big ideas like force field and a camera what took pictures of thoughts but it did not work it was impossible physics to do that. AC was a big hit what worked Nikola Tesla was a kind man. Do you now the company Tesla for cars geuss were there name came from Nikola Tesla!
Thomas Alva Edison
Thomas Alva Edison was an American inventor. He made DC work. He lived from 1847-1931. When he found out how to use DC, then all of New York City used it. Thomas made great inventions like the phonograph and electric light bulb. When Nikola Tesla came the war began first Nikola Tesla worked for Thomas Alva Edison. Thomas knew if Nikola Tesla did AC his business would go down. Thomas Alva Edison wanted to stop Nikola Tesla but of course he didn't.
Nikola Tesla
Thomas Alva Edison
AC Tesla vs DC Edison:
Nikola Tesla had a big idea about AC he had a good attitude to it.
Thomas Edison was a big man and did DC but DC is really dangerous.
Behaviour:
Nikola Tesla was helping Thomas but Thomas did not like it because he would go out of business.
Thomas Edison was furious about Nikola when AC worked he said it is too dangerous.
Compare AC to DC:
AC was one of the big inventions that time it was a big invention that made lots of changes.
DC was big too but not as big as AC, DC made much more polluting than AC.
Conclusion
AC is a big part of life nowadays we use a bunch everyday AC was a big invention. Now days we use AC because less pollution and can go faster and farther than DC. DC is for batteries or solar cells and some more. If you want to learn more about Nikola Tesla or Thomas Alva Edison read who was books about them.
Glossary
force field:force field Is a force what is invisible
Transformer: Transformer is a an apparatus for reducing or increasing the voltage of an alternating current.
