Making a difference, one person at a time
The Road Less Traveled?
I recently read a story that got my attention. Most of you, at one time, probably noticed the Robert Frost quote under my email signature. The Road Less Traveled...
As 2018 was coming to a close I read a story about a woman in Canada that befriended a mugger. The story is here. As I read the story I immediately thought, what would most people do? My conclusions were: call the police, get help, check on the other individual, or maybe chase the person and then call the authorities. Not one of my conclusions was, chase the mugger and then take him out for coffee. This is truly the "road less traveled".
This made me stop and think about what we do every single day. Sometimes the knee-jerk reaction is not best. Sometimes your gut instinct might be wrong. Sometimes responding in the moment is the worst thing we can do.
As we prepare to begin the second semester I hope you'll pause and consider new approaches to deal with challenges. You do realize that challenges and stress are inevitable. However, we do have the choice in how we respond.
Here's to a new year where we are willing to take, the road less traveled.
