HAUTAPU SCHOOL PANUI

Week 4, Term 1

Deputy Principal's Message

Greetings whaanau

It’s been a pleasure to see all of our students settling into the first 4 weeks of school. The students are engaged in learning and making connections with their teachers and peers. Despite the current challenges we face, school continues to be the best place for the

well-being of all students. Thank you all for your continued support in enabling a positive and settled start to the year.

Swimming Sports

An adapted version of swimming sports will take place this term. Unfortunately there will be no parent spectators due to Covid19 restrictions. Our apologies for this as we really look forward to opportunities to have whānau come and see their children participate however as we know things have to be run differently for the time being. Dates and finer details are being finalised and once confirmed we will let you know.

Parking

Thank you for your co-operation with parking during pick up and drop off times. When exiting the carparks please drive to the small roundabout on Hana Lane to turn around. Please do not make u-turns out of the carpark during the busy pick up and drop off times. Your continued co-operation is appreciated.

Linewize Online Safety

As our learning programmes gain momentum in classes I would like to point out a new initiative around Cyber Safety which our school has begun. We have partnered with an educational company called LineWize from Family Zone. They offer a comprehensive student safety platform around online learning. Using leading technology their aim is to help schools, students and families develop better digital habits and better communities. Ultimately this will combine to grow and empower our students to be digital citizens in the 21st century.

As part of the LineWize roll out at Hautapu School I would like to introduce you to the parent community portal known as the Cyber-Safety Hub. The school will be able to use the Hub to engage with our school community regarding online safety. Parents will be able to use the Hub to educate themselves on issues and empower themselves to more actively participate in their children’s online lives. The Cyber-Safety Hub will be linked from our school’s website and comms networks. Attached below is some brief information regarding LineWize along with a link to access the Hub.

A Message From Our New Presiding Board Member

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Whanau,

Board elections are this year and the first change is to the Presiding Member (formally Board Chairperson), who was nominated by existing members of the Board.

I would like to introduce myself as your new Presiding Board Member. My oldest son, Logan, left to join Cambridge High this year and my daughter Jessica is in Koromiko.

I look forward to working closely with Tracey Bennett and our wonderful staff to ensure that Hautapu School continues to be a welcoming and enjoyable place of learning for our children.

Traci Bevan has done a fantastic job during her tenure as Board Chair and remains on the Board to provide support during the transition. I would like to take this opportunity to thank her for the time she has given to the School and Board.

Please feel free to introduce yourself when you see me around.

Nga mihi,

Rosanna Dickson

Learning Conferences

As much as we value and would love the opportunity to meet with you all face to face to discuss your child’s learning, we believe that in the current climate the health of our community is of utmost importance.

We will be holding our face to face Learning Conferences early in Term 2 instead.

If you would like to book a 15 minute zoom meeting/google meets/phone call with your child’s teacher this term, please email them and they will prioritise a time after school for this to happen. If you’re unsure of their email address, they are available on our school website by clicking on their profile picture.
