A Message from Principal Skyles
Hello, McDaniel families,
It is hard to believe we are almost two months into the school year. It has been amazing having students and staff back in the building. The new building is still amazing, and the views are extraordinary. We understand that returning to school has had its ups and downs for the community and individual students and families. Please let us know if you need anything or have any questions/concerns please reach out to staff, we are here to support you.
We have most clubs up and running and encourage you to talk with your student about getting involved. The club list is attached to this newsletter.
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be virtual this year. We will be sharing the signup document on Monday, November 8th at 4 pm in a separate email.
Let us know if you have any questions.

Update on Free COVID-19 Screening Testing Program
Please read the letter below for details about the delay for the start of the COVID-19 Screening Program.
---
Dear PPS Families,
We want to provide you with an update on our free COVID-19 screening testing program, which is a partnership between the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) and PPS. Screening testing provides early detection of COVID-19, even when individuals have no apparent COVID-19-like symptoms.
We recognize that many of you have signed up to have your student participate in this weekly testing program. However, across the nation, partners like OHSU are facing unprecedented disruption in their supply chain resulting in delays. We apologize for the impact this is having on our community and appreciate your patience.
As a reminder, testing is one tool among many to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Despite the availability of this program, the best tools to protect individuals against COVID-19 are vaccination for those eligible, physical distancing, masks, proper ventilation and airflow, hand hygiene, and staying home if ill or exposed to someone with COVID-19. It’s also important to remember that if your student has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 90 days, you should NOT submit a sample. Doing so has the potential of returning a false positive result due to the sensitivity of the test.
To learn more about the free COVID-19 screening testing program, please visit OHSU’s program page https://www.ohsu.edu/health/k-12-covid-19-screening-program.
Thank you.
