BUENA VISTA JAMBOREE! Volunteers Urgently Needed!
Buena Vista's Annual Carnival, The Jamboree, is right around the corner! The Jamboree is a community event on May 6 from 12-4 pm, that promises a day filled with fun, games, music, food, and entertainment for people of all ages. This year, the PTA is underwriting the event, so it is FREE for all to attend and play games!
We still need volunteers!! In order to have all of the planned games and booths, we need more help with setup, teardown, and for each grade! If you have a 5th grader or older, they can also volunteer to work at a game! PLEASE NOTE! WHEN YOU CLICK THE LINK IT LOOKS LIKE ALL SLOTS ARE FULL...THAT IS JUST FOR THE FIRST TAB. PLEASE CLICK THE TABS AT THE TOP TO SEE OPEN VOLUNTEER SPOTS THAT STILL NEED TO BE FILLED.
Note from the Principal
Greetings Buena Vista Parents,
I want to thank all of the students and parents who have been recognizing the amazing teachers and support staff we have here a Buena Vista this week. Your thoughtfulness and recognition for all of the hard work is truly appreciated. In addition, to all of your personalized thank-yous, our PTA has done an amazing job with providing special breakfasts, treats, and lunches to our staff each day. We truly feel special. (A special shout out to Sarah Appel who has helped PTA organize all the celebrations this week💕)
Our Glow Dance last week was amazing!!!! Thank you to our PTA who organized and put on a fantastic event. (Jamie Fields, you rocked the planning of our Glow Dance, thank you for all of your effort to make it a success.💛💚) Many parents commented on how much they enjoyed the whole evening. The more support our PTA has the more events like the Glow Dance we can do. Please consider joining the PTA and volunteering to plan more activities like these.
If you missed it, you have another chance for another fun time at BV. We have our BV Jamboree this Saturday. If you plan on attending please fill out the waiver here. Also, we desperately need volunteers to make this BV tradition a success. Here is a sign-up genius for volunteers.
Time is almost Up!
Thank you to the 206 families that have responded to our Youth Truth survey. Your input is integral to our success and planning. We have had 55% of our family participate in this survey. It would be AMAZING if we could climb to 80%. If you have a chance, please fill this out. Please take the survey before it closes at midnight on Friday, May 5th by clicking this link: ytsurvey.org/wcsdfamily23.
CAASPP Testing Nearly Complete!
Hats off to our 3rd, 4th & 5th grade students as they complete this year's state testing! Parents will receive their child/ren's results in the late summer. Prior year's scores are accessible on the Aeries Parent Portal.
Open House next Week!
Mark your calendars! Students and teachers are hard at work to show you all they've been learning this year! Tuesday, May 9th all classrooms will be open from 6-7pm. While you are welcome to visit all of our classrooms, please respect teachers' time to celebrate learning with their current class communities.
17 DAYS OF SCHOOL LEFT! DON’T MISS OUT ON THE FUN!
Being chronically absent affects high school graduation rates and the chances for success in college. Only 11 percent of high school students with chronic absences made it to their second year of college. That's compared to 51 percent of students who didn't miss that much school.
Last Day of School Lunch -
The last day of school, May 26 is a shortened day and lunch will be grab & go! Please order your lunch in advance by clicking here!
It's a Great Day to be a Bulldog!
Respectfully,

THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS!
This year would not be possible without the help and support from our teachers, room parents, and families who helped with Book Fair, Fun Run, Glo Dance, Movie Night, Yearbook, Multi-Cultural Night, Teacher Appreciation Week, Jamboree, etc. It takes a village to help make the school year a successful and fun experience.
In honor of all our volunteers, we will be hosting a Volunteer THANK YOU Breakfast on Thursday, May 11th from 7:30-9:00 am. This breakfast is for all parents who volunteered throughout the year and for our teachers. Stop by for coffee and pastries and to hang out with other volunteers and mingle. THANK YOU!
