Family Night Hour of Code

This past December, K. Tarver Elementary hosted it's Family Night Hour of Code.

The parents that attended were amazed that these resources were available at the elementary level. We showcased online and offline activities.

How can we encourage this?

Tarver Technology Club codes with Code Monkey, a program that teaches student real programming. Tarver Robotics Team also uses a form of coding that goes more in depth with the EVO Robotics program. LISD teachers and students can work with their assigned DLS in making this possible. Laredo ISD is preparing technology applications lessons in instructing our students to navigate computers and learn to troubleshoot. Technolgy is the driving force of the future and we are preparing our students the best way possible. Another accessible resource is Code.org it is readily available to everyone, no account is needed to access lessons. Nearpod and coding have lessons available for K-5th. Computation Thinking is a skill coding encourages, whether it is online or unplugged.
