Student Engagement
What is student engagement? We use this term a lot. The obvious response is, "It's students paying attention in class and doing their work.", but it is so much more. Please read the article below for more information on what student engagement means. Student engagement is a hot topic in education because of its strong correlation to increased discipline incidences/suspension rates, increased student dropout rates (this link begins as student engagement decreases as early as elementary grades), decreased graduation rates and increased crime and imprisonment. Teachers, you have a great weight upon your shoulders! Keeping your students engaged in school and in your lessons is vital to student success. There are many ways to keep students engaged, and one of those ways is through intentional planning and differentiating of lessons to meet your students' needs. We are focusing on differentiation this semester to strengthen your instruction, student engagement and student learning. I will be in and out of classrooms to provide you feedback that focuses on differentiation and student engagement. Let's start this semester with a bang and continue to give our students our all!
