Meet our Crew!

Ms. Warren ~ Special Education
Hello! My name is Kristen Warren. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a psychology degree and then went onto graduate school at Edgewood College, Madison to earn my teaching degree in special education k-12 and a masters in education. From there, I married my husband who is in the Air Force and we moved to Okinawa, Japan where I taught in the Department of Defense Schools teaching several areas within special education. After 3 years in Japan, we moved to Pinehurst, NC and were there for 8 years. A move to the panhandle of Florida at that point (it’s GORGEOUS there) to just recently moved back to North Carolina and chose the Fuquay Varina area to settle.
We have 4 kids, ages 10. 8, 7 and 4 and they keep us busy. You will find us on some court or field every night of the week and weekends. We love our sports! We also love traveling and adding adventure to our lives the best we can.
I am a huge advocate for children with special needs and a behavior GURU. I am currently working on my BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analysis) certificate through the University of West Florida.
I am super pumped to be a Buccaneer and look forward to getting to know the students and families at Buckhorn Creek!
Ms. Waters ~ 1st Grade
I am beyond excited to join the Buckhorn Creek family on the maiden voyage! I earned my undergraduate degree in elementary education at UNC-Chapel Hill and my master’s degree at East Carolina University. I taught 5th and 2nd grades at a private school for 6 years before I took a break to be a stay-at-home mom to my 3 children (who are now teenagers!).
Since I have returned to teaching, I have been working in the Wake County School System in 4th and 1st grades. Building the foundations of a child’s ability to become a reader is a highlight of teaching 1st grade, as is the energy and joyfulness of this age group. I strongly believe in building relationships with my students and their families to create a safe and nurturing bond that will translate into academic success. Go Buccaneers!
Ms. Sola ~ Instructional Assistant
Like many people in this area, I used to live in the northeast. I was born in New York City, but have also called New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Massachusetts home. My love of children led me to pursue a degree in Special/Elementary Education from William Paterson University of NJ. I married Peter and moved to central MA. There I taught word processing courses to employees of a large computer company. I even taught my husband. One of my greatest challenges was teaching word processing to a deaf employee! I then had four children and treasured the years I stayed home to nurture them. During this time, I enjoyed volunteering at their schools and church camps.
After moving to North Carolina, I became a Wake County teaching assistant. I have worked in CCK, first grade and, since 2011, kindergarten. It’s a privilege each year to welcome the new kids on the block. My desire is to gently help them navigate their new world of school. I look forward to providing our Buccaneers a warm, loving environment to encourage a love for their school and learning.
