MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL LAMBERT
Parents partnering with our school is very important to every student's success. Next week is another one of those opportunities to participate in your child's education.
March 5 - March 9 is Teacher/Parent Conference Week. We need 100% parent participation in these conferences so please keep your appointment time or communicate as soon as possible if you need to change your time. You will receive your child's report card at the parent conference. The only minimum day that week is the regular Thursday minimum day; on the other days the dismissal time remains the same as usual.
Best Regards,
Theresa Lambert

FROM THE DISTRICT
ThoughtExchange opens on Feb. 28: New school name and principal attributes
In 2015, the Mountain View Whisman School District Board of Trustees voted to open a neighborhood school next to the former Slater Elementary. The District soon will begin construction on a new school on N. Whisman Rd. This new school will open in August 2019 for grades kindergarten through 5.
As we prepare to open this new school, we want to hear your opinions about the important attributes and contributions of the potential person/namesake for this new school, as well as the traits of its new principal.
Look for a link in your email on Feb. 28 to join the ThoughtExchange conversation or visit this link http://mvwsd.thoughtexchange.com/invitation/ to join in before March 16.We want to hear from you! LCAP survey and meeting
The District is beginning its annual process of updating the LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan). This input collected will guide the update of our District plan for the 2018-19 school year. Parents, we want to hear from you: Please click below to give input through March 2 in a survey about the plans' goals. (Using a laptop/desktop computer or a tablet is recommended. Formatting may not be as readable on mobile devices). If you would like a paper copy, please come to the office.

MVLA Parent Education Speaker Series presents:
Tuesday, March 6 at 7:00pm at Los Altos High School Eagle Theater
Drawing upon 26 years of clinical experience and scientific research, Dr. Sax will explore how social, cultural, and biological factors have created an environment that impedes the healthy development of many boys today. Dr. Sax will share concrete strategies to help us as parents connect more deeply with our sons and guide our boys to stay engaged - and grow into productive, self-reliant, authentic young men.

Become a Living Classroom Docent!
Mountain View Whisman School District’s Living Classroom program inspires our students to value the natural world through garden-based education. We provide Kindergarten through 5th grade classrooms with hour-long lessons that correlate with current science, math, and social studies standards. Living Classroom uses a hands-on, inquiry approach to learning which ensures our lessons are effective AND fun!
This year we will teach over 500 lessons with the help of our volunteers. Becoming a docent is rewarding, enjoyable, and no prior teaching experience is required. Interested in sharing your love of nature and outdoor learning with students? We would love to have you on board! Want to learn more?
