Happy Spring!

Spring Break is almost here, the weather is becoming more consistently warmer, while spring sports are in full swing. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement, our students are thriving and working towards their Spring SOL tests. Below are important dates and calendars. We encourage all families to work their appointments around these dates as much as possible.

Some friendly reminders! With the warmer weather, please review the school dress code found in agenda's, as well as our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy. Devices are kept in lockers or backpacks for PE and only permitted in classes for instructional purposes when requested by the teacher.

We have so many amazing volunteer opportunities, as well events coming in the next three months and are excited to have your help and participation. It's a "WE" thing!

Thank you for helping our school achieve the School of Excellence honor for the 2015-2016 school year!

Hello from your SMS PTSO!!

A big THANKS to everyone that came out to the Saunders PTSO Bingo night on March 17th. The “Luck of the Irish” was definitely with the participants and the event was TONS of fun. We raised $2,150 for the Saunders Middle School PTSO and (BONUS) got to see Mr. Anderson call bingo dressed as St. Patrick!!

Bingo would not have been successful without the support and donations from our Community: Avon (Sandi Morris); Scentsy (Ruthie Craig); doTerra (Lillian Warkentin); LipSense (Karmon J. Primas-Hailey); Mary Kay (Karyz Figueroa); BeautyCounter (Lesa Rizzo); Thirty-One Gifts (Lorelei Kennedy); Paparazzi (Lorelei Kennedy); LuLaRoe (Amy Hannum, Amy Shanahan, Faye Wong, and Rebecca Buchanan); Lyons Napa Auto Shop; Dr. Dave Alachnowicz, DDS; BMW of Alexandria; Old Hickory Golf Club; Brixx Pizza; Famous Dave’s; Burger Boys; Charlie Bob’s Market & Deli; Rebounderz; Peace Mind & Body Yoga; AMC; Massage Envy; Target; Walmart; Ace Hardware; Lowes; Home Depot; Vera Bradley; Sam’s Club; BJs; Costco; Jiffy Lube Live; Disney World; and, United Mine Workers of America!

If you wonder what happens with the funds we raise for the PTSO keep reading:

* We recently purchased two microwaves for the school. These microwaves are used by both students and staff to heat up lunches brought from home.

* New park bench in front of the school AND soon to come TWO new picnic benches.

* Provide funds for the afternoon activity buses.

* Student Pride Day snacks are purchased by the PTSO.

Upcoming Events:

* 4/21 - Fun Friday 3-5pm

* 4/28 - Spartan Pride Day

* 5/15 - Eating Out Event at All American Steakhouse

(Our last event raised a little over $300 – THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!)
