News from Ms. Hess
This week in math we focused on understanding the place value of decimals through the thousandths. Next week, we will begin using our understanding of place value to start adding decimals.
In literacy, we closed our unit on comparing and contrasting characters, setting, and events. Your child's progress on this learning target will be shared in the binder of awesome which will be sent home at the end of next month.
Writers have been learning to write strong leads and endings to their personal narratives. They will begin revision and editing next week as well as publishing. Your child may be sending an email next week requesting an image to be sent that ties to their personal narrative.
In science, we built a model of the heart to see how the valves and chambers work together as well as the nervous system and the sensory areas of the brain. Ask your child about what experiment they designed with the cup drop! Next week, we will open our Time Traveling (Social Studies) unit.
Our Second Step goal is focusing on accepting and respecting differences.
