A Note from Dr. Miles
Good morning Parents and Guardians!
What a wonderful time, during Thanksgiving, to spend with family and friends! I hope you all had the opportunity relax and enjoy special moments with your loved ones. Perhaps you took some time to take advantage of the deals and steals to jumpstart the holiday shopping sprint.
Now we have four weeks before our next holiday break which will go by fast, so in this time please encourage your child to work hard, stay focused, and do their very best in all aspects of the school day. We are all committed to ensuring that your children receive the best education possible as our teachers work diligently to prepare students for their next level of learning and reach their highest potential. Our responsibility as a school community is to bridge home and school to make the transfer of learning as seamless as possible. Anytime you need resources to assist your child, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher so he/she may seek to provide you with necessary materials or other resources.
CHROMEBOOK COMPUTERS: With the winter months soon upon us, I want to make sure that all students have access to the Chromebooks to take home in case of a snow day or Flexible Instructional Day (FID). Teachers will have their Canvas pages updated with zoom links to continue school day during inclement weather days.
***If your child has STILL not been able to bring their computers home due funding for the insurance of $40, you can still see if you qualify for a waiver by click on the WAIVER link and type all requested information and click submit. If it shows a $0.00 balance, then you qualify for the waiver. If not, click the link above to pay the TIF fee. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the office.
The Scholastic book fair is this week so we look forward once again to see the happiness and joy on the faces of our students as they purchase books of high interest and that ignite them to want to read. We appreciate all your support for your child in this endeavor.
Kind regards,
Dr. Miles
Pie the Prinicpal
Well here are a couple of pictures that were captured at the Pie the Principal event. After all it was worth the effort as we were able to contribute over 800 cans of food for those who need it most. The students in the first picture won raffles in their classrooms to have the chance to throw a pie. As you can see, first grader in Mrs. Gatano-Swisher's class, Ophelia Drelick, really got me good!
PICTURE RETAKE DAY
On Wednesday, November 29th, we will have picture retake day. This will be for any new students that have joined our school, students who were out sick on picture day, or if you would like your students to have their pictures retaken. Thank you and hope you have a great day!!

Volunteers Needed!
There are many opportunities for volunteering at our school. Please complete the form below if you are interested in volunteering at King's Highway Elementary School. Here are some of the ways you can help:
Recess: Recess volunteers assist students during recess.
Cafeteria: Cafeteria volunteers assist students with getting their lunches, opening containers, dispensing utensils and napkins, etc.
Reading: Some students, especially in K-2, may need extra literacy reinforcement. As a volunteer you may be able to assist students in letter/sound naming, decoding, etc. This may be more intensive.
All volunteers must have the proper clearances on file in the main office. You can email your clearances to milesb@casdschools.org or send the forms to school with your student. See the pdf below for information regarding clearances.
Thank you for supporting King's Highway Elementary School!
