Brentwood Art

Notes from Mrs. Sherman

Welcome to the ART Room!

Hi! My Name is Mrs. Sherman and I am the new ART teacher at Brentwood! I have greatly enjoyed meeting your students and look forward to seeing their artistic abilities! We have some fun projects planned and I am very excited to see the creativity, talent, and imagination that is sure to come in the art room!

Kandinsky inspired art

Currently, all students are learning about the great artist, Wassily Kandinsky. We have discussed abstract art in depth and had fun picking out "what WE see" in his paintings.

We are working on Kandinsky-inspired paper circles to be placed on a Brentwood family tree. Although each student is only creating one small circle, it will be a large display of art once completed.

Brentwood Art Show

You may notice that your student isn't bringing home artwork this year. Instead, all artwork will be kept at school and entered into the Brentwood Art Show in May, 2017! The students are already excited for their friends and family to see the masterpieces that they will create in the art room. Artwork may be taken home at the end of the show.

Art to Remember

Beginning next week, all students will begin working on a project for the Art to Remember PTO fundraiser. We thought it would be neat to integrate the Indiana Bicentennial Celebration and include fun facts about our great state as we create unique artwork relating to Indiana.

Be sure to ask your child what they learned about in ART!
