A Note from Mrs. Phillips
Dear Charles Families:
Greetings Charger friends and families! It is that time of year already! We had a little taste of normal this summer and now it's time to prepare for another school year that could present fears and anxieties. This year will look very typical of last year. We have your child and our staff's safety in mind with ever decision being made. I understand we may not fully understand the changes or the need for change, but we will continue to follow the directive of our district and model what Dr. Wright states as "good ol' Richmond common sense." Please know our high expectations of providing your family with high quality education is still our top priority.
Day one, Wednesday, August 11th, will look very similar to last year. Your child will wear a mask into school and practice social distancing. While we will keep your student in a pod throughout the day, they will be able to have a mask break anytime they are outside and recess will be back to normal. Please begin to talk with your students about how we can socially connect without physically connecting. Please let them know we all will do our best to help them feel safe and loved as we move forward.
We have many changes this year! I am excited to welcome Kathryn Bullock, Alexis Crosset, Kevin Schamel, Lindsey Sickmann and Monica Wright to our building. We also have Thaddeus Lewis joining us in the library and Brooke Dean joining us as our SEL para and in the lunchroom. We wish Mrs. Tipton and Miss Shera the best of luck at their new schools and are still thinking about Mrs. Day as she continues her cancer battle.

We are finalizing class lists and have posted them in Power School. Many teachers will begin uploading Dojo to begin making connections. We will have our Back to School Night on Tuesday from 4:00-6:00 pm. You must wear a mask to enter the building.
DAY 1
Please understand we have continued rules due to Covid-19. We will not be allowing visitors into the building. Starting on day 1, we ask you to stay in your car and drop off in the two drop off lanes. We will have plenty of staff to assist your child to their classroom. Please make sure your child's teachers knows how they are to get home. (Bus, car line or walker door) Teachers will have "how am I getting home" papers for you to fill out during back to school night.
As always, I'm here if you need anything. I try my best to put things out there on Dojo and Social Media. If there is anything else I can do better, please let me know. You can send a personal message via Dojo, Facebook or Twitter. You may also email me or call the office. That information is found below. Have a great year Chargers!
Be kind, be amazing, and be YOU!

General Information about Bus Transportation
- Students should arrive at the assigned bus stop at least ten (10) minutes before the scheduled bus stop time.
- Parents/Guardians should assure that students dress appropriately for the weather, rain gear for inclement conditions, proper footwear for walking to and from and waiting at the bus stop.
- The bus stop and the school bus are considered an extension of the classroom and students are expected to observe the same code of discipline expected in the school classroom.
- Students are not allowed to eat, drink or chew gum while on the school bus.
- Students are expected to abide by the school bus driver’s instructions while boarding the bus, on the bus and when departing the bus, at the bus stop or school location.
- Expect school bus delays the first weeks of school due to traffic congestion around school buildings, schools regulating dismissals, and students becoming familiar with their bus drivers.
- If you’re driving behind a bus, allow a greater following distance than if you were driving behind a car. It will give you more time to stop once the yellow lights start flashing.
- It is illegal to pass a school bus that is stopped to load or unload children.
- If the yellow or red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended,
traffic must stop.
