Word Consciousness/ IB
IB
This week Ms. Wiltshire’s Red Raiders will help us understand the significance and application of a new IB attitude, confidence. Someone who exemplifies this attitude feels confident in his/her ability a as learner, has the courage to take risks, applies what he/she has learned and makes appropriate decisions and choices. Below are some ideas for morning meeting topics to discuss with your scholars this week:
- What does it mean to be confident? How is being confident related to being a risk taker?
- Think about a time when you feel confident. Why was this? Did it have to do with the people that you were around? Were you somewhere where you felt very comfortable?
- Think about a time when you didn’t feel very confident. Why was this? What makes you feel confident sometimes and not confident other times? What can you do to increase your confidence no matter the situation?
- Sometimes certain subjects are easier for us. How can it be important to recognize this? How does recognizing our own strengths and weaknesses help increase our confidence?
- Sometimes other people might try to persuade us to do something that we know isn’t right. How does having confidence help us make good decisions consistently?

Scholar Attendance
Attendance Contest
As you all know, having scholars present at school each day is extremely important for their growth and achievement. It is also important that they are present because it affects our school funding! In order to invest scholars in their attendance, we will be starting a monthly competition for the grade level with the best attendance. Each week, I will include a snapshot of the attendance percentages for each grade and the grade level with the highest percentage by the end of the month will earn a teacher and scholar free dress day!
Shout out to 4th grade in the lead for the month of November, followed closely behind by 5th grade!
