Storybook Character Project!

Your child is participating in a storybook character project. The project is due on Monday, October 31st, but please return the project form from your child's homework folder by Monday, October 17th to confirm the book title and project choice. Your child needs to choose a good-fit book and then complete the character card and a project form the choice board. It can be a book from home or a book from school, as long as it is a good-fit choice.

What We are Learning About

Reading: We are focusing on text features of nonfiction texts. We will also learn about using the RAPS (restate, answer, prove it, sum it up) strategy.


Writing: Students are currently writing Personal Narratives using the writing process: brainstorming, drafting, editing, revising, conferring, and publishing.


Fundations: We are currently focusing on spelling and marking closed syllable words with glued sounds.


Math: We will continue focus on addition and subtraction fluency within 20 and counting coins.


Science: We are focusing on types of weather and weather patterns.


Social Studies: We are focusing on interpreting and creating maps.
