Good to Great: Rethinking Morning Work
http://mrdovico.blogspot.com/2017/02/rethinking-morning-work.html
In it, he pushes back against the idea of traditional morning work, provides some compelling thoughts about it, and leaves us with a reflection from a first year teacher who implemented this. She offers some great tips and advice for how she gradually released responsibility to her students and even worked with them to devise consequences for those who do not comply with the expectations. If you give this a try, please let me know! I know those who have already implemented it have done so with tremendous success!
