Mr. Mauck's Musings
An exciting pre-Halloween weekend for JHS. Ally Wigand and the entire boy's cross country team will compete at the State Meet on Saturday. After a bye week, the football team opens sectional play at Enlow Field against Evansville Memorial tonight at 7:30. The Marching Wildcats head to the ISSMA Semi-State at Pike High School in Indianapolis. Their performance will begin at 5:45. Good luck to all our Wildcats competing this weekend.
Congratulations to Carlee Rogers and Mr. Scott Yarbrough as they are our student and staff member of the week. This week was Red Ribbon Week which serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities. Thank you to all of our students who worked to educate the JHS community about drug-free activities. The SOFA club took a trip to Louisville to see the Beyond Van Gogh exhibit. I heard the virtual tour was amazing. The JHS Archery club is having a call-out meeting as their season is getting ready to ramp up.
If you have been on campus this week you will have noticed the three construction projects that have begun at Jasper High School. Inside we are converting some old locker rooms into storage for the Band and Colorguard. Outside just to the west of the tennis courts will be a Maintenance Building with additional Band storage. On the Northeast corner of the school, the CTE expansion project has begun. We will be adding 33% more space with 3 additional lab areas. Two new classrooms, plant and animal rooms, and separate robotic, engineering, construction, and machining rooms will be available to students. This renovation is essential in preparing our students with the technical skills necessary for future job markets.
The Indiana Department of Child Services has reached out to all the GJCS schools asking us to invite potential families to consider becoming foster parents. If you have the ability please consider becoming foster parents.
A reminder to our students that are of age, Election Day is Nov. 8th. If you have registered to vote you may vote at any open voting sight. The 35th Street Fire Station site is open for early voting. There is a flier posted below. Have your voice heard and take advantage of your constitutional rights.
Halloween is on Monday and I would urge you all to have a safe and fun evening. Have a great weekend.

AP Test Order & Drop Fee
AP Students - AP exam administration orders are due to be finalized to the College Board by November 15th. The College Board will charge Jasper High School $40.00 for any exam returned after that date. If a student is going to drop an AP class at semester break it is very important for them to confirm that with Mr. Uebelhor before we submit our exam order. We plan to submit our final order on Friday, November 11th. Any student dropping an AP class after that will have the $40.00 charge added to book rental fees.

Call for Foster Parents in DuCo
“Right now, there are more than 20 Dubois County children in foster care. Over 15 of these children are placed outside of Dubois County. The Indiana Department of Child Services depends on people like you to offer foster children a safe and loving home within their county. Children of all ages – but especially older youth and sibling groups – need a place to stay while in the foster care system. Learn more about becoming a foster parent at Indianfostercare.org or contact the Dubois County DCS office at 812-482-2585 to speak to a Foster Care Specialist.”
