Principal's Message
This week each Wilson teacher took the time to review their classroom social contracts with their students. Social contracts were created as a class at the beginning of the year as part of our Capturing Kids Hearts program.
A social contract is an agreement between the members of the class, including the teacher. It is an agreement of the behaviors that are acceptable in the classroom. The discussion centers on how the leader and each member of the group want to be treated. It also covers how people treat each other during a conflict. We also made a social contract as a staff!
When you make the contract, the people of the group sign it and make that commitment to one another to follow it. The three attributes you will see on every social contract are: Effort, Active Listening, and No Put Downs. Our goal is to help every student and staff member have a productive and successful year. The social contract is one of the tools we have to help us accomplish this goal.
We encourage you to take a few minutes and ask your child about about their classroom social contract and have them share examples of how they are being a great teammate at Wilson.
Kindly,
Lara Olsen, Principal
Schyla Bergeson, Asst. Principal

Our theme this Month is Respect
Honor You, Honor Me
This month, we’re focusing on respect, which comes in many forms: respect for life, for property, for parents, for elders, for nature, and for the beliefs and rights of others. Respect includes being courteous and polite, as well as respecting yourself by avoiding self-criticism. We can model respect for our children regarding how we speak to and treat them. Respect is not only an important character trait, but it can also be a source of real joy! Respect implies a certain appreciation, which makes us more aware of other people’s needs and feelings.
