Geocaching
For Earth Day, sixth graders participated in a geocaching event at the park. Students used GPS units to find hidden canisters that included a mathematical puzzle about Earth Day. The answer to that question would lead to a second hidden puzzle. After solving the second puzzle the students would get the GPS coordinates to a challenge. Once at the challenge, students would do a fun hands-on activity related to recycling or other Earth Day concepts. The students completed eight quests and the event was timed. The teams with the quickest times completing the challenges were declared the winners.
