Arrival and Dismissal Procedures for K-2 In-person Students Beginning Jan. 11th
Arrival and Dismissal at School
Supervisors will be on duty starting at 7:45 AM each day. Students should not arrive at school before the supervisors go on duty. All students will be going directly to their classrooms upon arrival at school. Classroom teachers will be outside their classroom door to greet students between 7:45-8:00 AM. Car Riders, Walkers and ET students will be dismissed at 12:00 PM each day. Bus Riders will follow and will be dismissed by route number.
Car Riders will be entering/exiting Door 5 (back of the school on blacktop).
Bus Riders will be entering/exiting Door 4 (back of the school on blacktop).
Walkers will be entering/exiting Door 2 (front of the school (Main Entrance))
Drop off/Pick Up Lane
All vehicles dropping off students must enter from Franklin (heading west). The middle lane is for passing and the right side of the drive-through is for faculty parking.
Upon entering please pull into the left lane and pull up as far as possible as to not leave large gaps between cars.
Please refrain from parking your car and leaving your vehicle. Doing so causes a back up to the rest of the families wanting to get through the lane.
To ensure the safety of your children, please have your child exit and enter from the driver’s side of your vehicle. If this is not possible, we ask that you walk them around the vehicle to the passenger side.
Special Note: Parents must send a note to their student’s teacher if there is a change in the regular after school arrangements for their student. For example, a note would be required if a bus student were to be picked up instead of riding the bus home, or if a student were riding the bus home instead of staying with the ET program. In the absence of a note, students will be told to follow their regular after school procedures.
If someone shows up stating they are here to pick up a student and we have not been notified, we will use the following procedure:
A phone call from the school office to the parent phone number listed on Parentvue will be made.
We request to see an ID to verify the identity of the person picking up.
Student Supply Distribution Day on Jan. 14th from 2-4:15 PM

***IMPORTANT HEALTH OFFICE NOTICE***
Happy New Year and welcome back!! Please note that if a family member or student tested positive for COVID over break, and the school was not notified, the student (and their sibling[s]) will be required to follow the protocol as it stands should they become symptomatic, or identified as a close contact to a confirmed positive.
Please inform the health office ASAP if anyone in your family has tested positive for COVID, or has been identified as a close contact on or after 12/27/20. IN ADDITION, if your student (or sibling) was the one who tested positive at ANY time over break, I will need a copy of the test results. Thank you for keeping our students and staff safe.
Please email/send any info to jsauck@d47.org
***PLEASE READ FOR IN-PERSON LEARNING - VERY IMPORTANT***
***You MUST complete the self certify questionnaire in ParentVue PRIOR to your child walking into the building***
We are SO excited to have our Cougars back in the building starting January 11th! In order to have a safe return, there are some IMPORTANT/MANDATORY reminders regarding attendance. You MUST self-certify your student(s) in ParentVue EVERY DAY BEFORE THEY ARRIVE IN THE BUILDING in order for them to remain in school for the day. Please do NOT wait until you have dropped them off to complete this step.
If your child has ANY one or more of the below listed symptoms, they will have to abide by the criteria listed under the box of symptoms in order to return to school. IT IS NO LONGER ONLY HAVING TO GO HOME/STAY HOME DUE TO FEVER AND/OR VOMITING. Please familiarize yourself with the criteria listed below for planning purposes. Your student also must be picked up from school no later than 30-45 minutes after you are called if they need to be sent home with any ONE or more of the symptoms listed below. Please be sure to have emergency contacts who can be reached and available to pick up your child within this time-frame. Thank you for helping us reopen as SAFELY as possible!
*Please note that these strict guidelines are IDPH mandated, and must be followed with no exceptions. Thank you for your cooperation.*
Symptoms of Covid 19:
Fever - Cough - Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing - Chills - Headache
Nausea/vomiting - Congestion/runny nose - Sore throat - Diarrhea - Muscle/body aches -
New loss of taste or smell - Fatigue - Abdominal pain
If your child were to develop any COVID-like illness symptoms at school, you will be notified to pick up your child as quickly as possible. Your child will need to follow one of the following procedures in order to be allowed back in attendance at school:
10 day stay at home/remote learning **OR**
A medical doctor’s note (written documentation) stating the diagnosis to explain the symptoms. It MUST read that the symptoms are "not believed to be COVID related" May NOT simply state "Viral illness, student may return to school" **OR**
Proof (written documentation) of a negative COVID-19 test. A "rapid" negative result WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. A negative result MUST be a PCR test.
If your child is sent home from school with symptoms of COVID-19, the rest of the household must be quarantined until an alternative diagnosis is made or a negative COVID-19 test result received. Siblings in your child’s school, or other D47/D155 schools, will need to be picked up as well and as quickly as possible.
Our safe return/hybrid will only work if we all do our part. Please refresh your mind with the above reminders for the safety of our students and staff.
Thank you, and WELCOME BACK!!

STUDENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT
Winter After School Virtual Club Opportunities for 2021!
Ukulele Club, Grades 3-5. Would you like to learn to play the ukulele? Mrs. Ladner is starting a Ukulele Club for students in grades 3-5 on Tuesday afternoons at 3:15 from January 5th-March 23rd. The only thing you need is a ukulele, so start asking your family or Santa to get you one for Christmas. You will use the same Zoom link that you use to come to music class. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Ladner through Seesaw.
Lego Club. Do you like to play with legos and would like to show yours and see others’ creations and sets? Come for that and lego challenges and competitions as well. 6 week club: Tuesdays, January 5 - February 9, from 3:15-4:15. Ms. Kuhns will be having fun with you there! Sign up here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1TMnmyZ48eAc1nCrpymlDloWzmbTOzRVV984JYhPkBRg/edit
Sing-Along/Karaoke Club. Are you missing singing with your friends? if so, come and join Sing-Along/Karaoke Club. Mrs. Ladner will find some fun songs and videos to sing and move to in this musical club. This club is open to any Husmann student. We will meet on Wednesday afternoons from 3:15-4:15 on Mrs. Ladner's Zoom link. The club will start on Wednesday January 6th and run through Wednesday March 24th. Hope to see you there!
Roblox Club. Join our student club captains to enter on their safe servers (in which no strangers can enter) to play games. Students will need their own personal device, not their D47 device, and have played Roblox already. The plan is for students to “friend” each other during the club time on a Husmann Club Captain’s server, and remove them at the end of club time. If any student wants to remain “friends” with another Husmann student on Roblox, they are required to talk to their parents to do so. Students will need to agree to these terms in order to play. D47 or Ms. Kuhns is in no way endorsing the use of the game, only offering a safe club where those who use it may enjoy playing with other Husmann students. Ms. Kuhns will be supervising this club on Thursdays, January 28 - February 25, from 3:00-4:00. Sign up here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1oiH9WsnLjG9hT2HB_yDQ8VW5RgHhVypI-Ahs8n7zDQI/edit
