Origin
Islam means “submission.”Monotheistic religious tradition which developed in the Middle East. Developed in the 7th century. Origin is in the Arabian Peninsula. Islam is one of the worlds fastest growing religions. Islam represents one of the bloodiest ideologies that humankind has come up with.

Principles
This religion is Monotheistic. Islam is ranked second in the world with about 1.2 billion members. Allah is the Islamic name for God. Muhammad was Allah’s messenger. The Holy Book was the Islamic Bible.
The 5 Pillars:
Testimony of Faith: Most important pillar: Open declaration to tell community you believe that there is nothing worthy of worship, apart from Allah and that Muhammad is his final Messenger.
Prayer: Praying to Allah 5 times a day, 5 Prayers are Fajr, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha.
Zakah: When they would help out the poor or the needy.
Sawm: Fasting: Fasted in the ninth month; for 29-30 days; People would stop eating and drinking between, just before sunrise and sunset.
The Pilgrimage: If they could afford to perform the Pilgrimage; Follow the path of the previous prophets.Diffusion
People would walk around the earth and spread the word of God to others so they also knew. It spread through Egypt, Freezan, Armenia, Persia, and all the places around there.

Islam and Christianity believe in life after death; resurrection.

Judaism; Twelfth largest religion in the world. Called Jews. House of worship is church, chapel, cathedral. House of worship is synagogue. Main day of worship is Saturday. Clergy: Rabbis. Population of 14 million.
Hinduism; Third largest religion in the world. Originated in the Indian subcontinent. Place of worship is temple. Population of 1 billion. Based on polytheism.
Taoism; An ancient Chinese religious tradition. Dates back to the 3rd or 4th century B.C. Virtue is in all things. Violence not encouraged.
