Dear L.E.S. Families,
We hope the summer edition of the Osprey Weekly finds your family safe and healthy.
We are experiencing extraordinary times and the pandemic has left us all wondering about a new normal, including what school will look like this fall. We are working with state guidance to consider how we safely open school. This plan will include addressing not just academic, but social, emotional and physical safety needs of students and staff.
At the Board of Education Meeting presentation by Dr. Smith on July 22nd, a virtual only start to the school year was shared. Please click the link here to Dr. Smith's presentation.
Please also plan to join Dr. Smith in a virtual Town Hall on Wednesday, July 29th @ 4:00 p.m. Please click the link here to the live stream of the SMCPS Town Hall.
As we get closer to the start of the new school year (August 31, 2020) we will be reaching out with specific information about what school will look like and how you can best help your child be prepared for school.
In the coming weeks, we will be in contact to let you know important information about how to get connected with teachers and staff. These communications will be sent via automated phone calls and via email. If you have changed your contact information or moved during the summer, please communicate that by calling the school at (301) 475-0250. It is essential that we have an email address for all families. Email communication with school staff is a common and very helpful practice, and we found that email was often the best way to stay connected during the emergency school closure.
Looking forward to connecting with you soon!
Sincerely,
Dr. Quick-McQueen
Principal
