I was delighted to meet so many of you this past week at our Open House Night. I want to thank each and every one of you for making the time to come meet with me. I am looking forward to working with you and your child to positively influence their academic experience. I know we are going to have a great and successful academic school year.
We have been covering plenty of new concepts this week in class. I am sure you have heard all about our new class garden and about planting plants from our little gardeners! We are learning all about plants this week in class. In Math, we are learning our numbers; we are concentrating on the digits 0 through 5. In language arts, we are working on the letters A and B this week. Our goal is to be able to name and recognize the letters both uppercase and lowercase form and also be able to write them. In social studies, we are learning about time. This week we are focusing on getting familiar with the calendar to determine what the day, week, month and year is.
I have asked the boys and girls to practice writing their names at home and counting the number of letters their name has. I encourage you to provide your child plenty of opportunities to practice their numbers and letters. For example, have them find objects around the house that represent this week’s letters. Practice at home will be greatly appreciated.
Have a wonderful week!
