Safety
Spring begins this week and hopefully it brings warm sunny weather with it. With the recent time change the mornings have become quite dark again. Please continue to talk with your children about morning safety at the bus stop or walking to school. We want everyone to be safe every day.
Spring also brings the threat of tornadoes. This past week we practiced by having a tornado drill. Students and staff made excellent choices as they moved quickly from their classrooms to safe spots in the hallway away from doors and windows. Have your student show you how to protect themselves if they are at school. You may want to think about a safe place at home too.
Rise Against Hunger - Thursday - Help Needed
Thursday, March 21 Richmond Drive will host “Rise Against Hunger.” Rise Against Hunger is an international hunger relief organization that distributes food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable. We need your help!! Thursday beginning 12:30 we will need adult assistance to unload the truck of food. We will then begin packing the food at 2:00. Students and adults are both needed at 2:00.
Reading at Home
Every child at Richmond Drive has reading homework everyday. Some may bring home a library book while others may have a guided reading book from their classroom.

Tiger Stripes - Excellence
As we continue promoting and recognizing positive behavior through PBIS at Richmond Drive, our TIGER trait focus for the 4th quarter is EXCELLENCE.
Students can show excellence by:
giving our best effort, using appropriate manners and showing flexibility. Excellence is not about getting high grades, but about doing your best. Appropriate manners includes teaching each other with respect, and being flexible includes a willingness to change or try something different.
Please consider discussing this character trait at home and encourage your child to understand that giving a best effort will not always result in being the “top of the class.” We know that each student is an individual and can contribute excellence to our school community.
Teachers will continue to give 2 stripes each day as Specials teachers give 1 per class. Any and all school staff are able and willing to give TIGER stripes on a daily basis.
