Woodbury Junior-Senior High School - Weekly Newsletter
Friday, April 23, 2021
Message from the Principal:
There is a video below that I think you will particularly enjoy. One of our teachers came across two vinyl records here at school. Because she didn't have a record player, she passed them along to someone who did - our Video Art Design teacher Mr. Doud. Mr. Doud discovered that those vinyl records held audio recordings from members of the WHS Class of 1948 made while in school. Being the creative type, he took those recordings and some photographs from old yearbooks and created a modern video highlighting a point in time from Woodbury High School history. Please be sure to take a look; I know you will find them fascinating!
Also in the newsletter this week are our Students of the Month for March. We congratulate each of them on their hard work, conscientiousness, and dedication to their studies! We are all so proud of them!
In partnership,
Dr. Vivadelli

Gianna Hines Stands Out in School and in the Rodeo
Gianna Hines is a member of the New Jersy High School Rodeo Association. She is currently competing in the High School Barrels which is described on the website as: In this event the horse and rider attempt to complete a clover-leaf pattern around preset barrels in the fastest time. It combines the horse’s athletic ability and the horsemanship skills of a rider to maneuver a horse safely and successfully through a clover leaf pattern around three barrels placed in a triangle in the center of an arena. The timer begins when horse and rider cross the start line and ends when the barrel pattern has been successfully executed and horse and rider cross the finish line.
And, in the High School Pole Bending event which is described as: This timed event features a horse and rider team, running a weaving or serpentine path around six poles arranged in a line. Setting up the pole bending pattern is crucial to the success of this event. Each pole is to be 21 feet (6.4 meters) apart, and the first pole is to be 21 feet (6.4 meters) from the starting line. Poles shall be set on top of the ground, six feet (1.8 meters) in height, with no base more than 14 inches (35 cm) in diameter. The purpose of a universal pattern is to be able to track and compare times everywhere poles are run.
It was an absolute treat to go see her complete. I plan on attending future competitions. I hope more faculty will join me in supporting Gianna in the future. Here is the link with events schedules.
