Mill Valley Weekly
Thursday, October 8th, 2020
Hello Mill Valley Families,
We would like to start by saying "thank you" for helping to make our NEW parent pick up procedure run so smoothly! In fact, it's going SO well, that starting tomorrow, we are going to move the dismissal time from 3:25 to 3:30. This will allow for students to have a little more instruction time in their classrooms. Truly, every minute counts!
Reminder, if you want to spend more time saying good-bye to your child at morning drop off, please park in the front lot and walk your child to the door. We are trying to keep the drop off line moving.
In addition, please remember...
- there is no LEFT turn out of the parking lot
- students should not be dropped off by door 3 on Hillendale or the front office
- be sure to enter the parent pickup line driving north on Hillendale, (not coming from College Ave)
Yesterday, we had our first Golden Awards Celebration. Check out our winners below! Way to go 4th Grade for being great role models in our school...being Respectful, Responsible and Kind.
Sincerely,
Robin Schrot, Principal
Allyce Harris, Associate Principal

Elementary Remote Learning Day Guidelines (Blue Days)
Remote Learning Days were approved to allow for school buildings to be deep cleaned at strategic times during the year and for staff to engage in professional learning. There are currently four (4) remote learning days on the calendar:
November 23
November 24
March 26
April 30
**Students enrolled in virtual learning classrooms will follow a modified asynchronous learning plan on these days.
Although learning remotely, students are considered present on these days. They are expected to complete assigned work and engage in planned learning opportunities. It is fine if students complete the work outside of school hours. If you child is not able to complete the assigned work, please call them in as absent. More information on these days will be provided closer to the date.
Don't Forget...Bring your Favorite Book to School
At Mill Valley Elementary we use the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) model; an approach that uses universal strategies for helping all students achieve important social and learning goals. It changes the paradigm of focus from negative behaviors and exchanges to positive expectations and interactions. We know that when good teaching and good behavior come together, our students will excel in their learning. As part of the PBIS program, we have established several clear rules for the behavior we expect in all areas of our school and at home. We actively teach, model, and reinforce our motto-- MV is the place to BE. BE respectful, BE responsible, BE kind.
