Principal's Message
Hello Sunset Lake Families,
This week we were happy to have all of our classrooms back from quarantine. Staff and students worked on finishing our state-required MSTEP testing and we will be working on our end-of-year district assessments this month.
Although our end-of-year celebrations will be different this year, we are working on finding ways to celebrate with our students with some of our traditional events in a modified way. As our plans become solidified we will be sharing out through our SMORE and/or classroom communications.
For those of you who haven't heard, our wonderful and amazing P.E. Teacher and Behavior Coach, Mrs. Getsinger is going to be retiring at the end of this school year. Mrs. G is going to celebrate with all of us with a special PEACE DAY this Tuesday, May 18th. All staff and students are encouraged to come dressed in the 60s/70s PEACE attire. As Mrs. G. shares it should be a GROOVY time. ;)
As our state makes changes with the mask requirements, our local school board and county health department are working on our response and changes that may affect our school district. Our district will be communicating updates soon.
Please help us reduce the spread of COVID-19 by constant monitoring of your child's symptoms each morning and reviewing the Student Screener-shown below. We ask that you keep your child home if you suspect a possible exposure and if anyone in your household is waiting for test results.
Gaiters and masks:
I have recently shared the mask-wearing fatigue our students have been demonstrating. It has also been evident that the gaiters can be a struggle for students to keep up at times. Please talk with your child about trying their best to keep them up while in school. If you need lighter-weight disposable masks, we do have plenty to distribute out for those in need.
PLEASE be sure to ALWAYS contact our office if your child is going to be absent from school so we can track reasons for absences and any possible cases.
Please visit this link at State of Michigan Covid for up-to-date information.
Together we can work to minimize exposure for our students and staff. Thank you!
Thank you Sunset Lake Families!
Yours in Learning,
Amie McCaw
