Blue Hills News
From the Desk of the Principal
Week of February 24, 2020
To the Blue Hills community:
As you know, there were some hateful messages posted on social media last week, and these messages spread over social media and were linked to Blue Hills. I read the following statement to all students and faculty today over the PA system:
Last week, many of you saw or received messages on social media that were hateful, hurtful, vile, and wrong. These messages do not represent our school, our students, or our faculty. We will be meeting with each grade over the next few days about this incident and about the values that Blue Hills strives to embody. Everyone in this school deserves to feel safe and be respected. I want everyone to know that we are committed to ensuring the safety of all our students, and in making Blue Hills a place where all students can learn and succeed.
We are still investigating these posts and addressing the situation. Thank you for your support in speaking with your students and in supporting the safe environment we are committed to at Blue Hills. We will not tolerate hateful speech or actions of any kind.
Please read on as we have some fantastic opportunities coming up in the next month for parent and student engagement. I want to especially highlight our partnership with Mass Heartbeat on March 13th. This is a fantastic opportunity for your student to get a free ECG screening by qualified health professionals, read by a cardiologist. Please see below for details and register through the link provided (FamilyID). There is no cost at all for this program. It is first come first serve, and open to 250 Blue Hills students.
