Reminders
Happy Friday Doss Staff!!
Facility Master Plan: Did you hear about the possibility of some Austin ISD school closures? Here are the facts. The district has been working on a Facility Master Plan for the last two years. This process has included an extensive review of all AISD facility conditions (this is how the district found the deficits in the TA Brown facility). This has been an extremely thorough process. The district-hired consultants have gathered a massive amount of information and synthesized it into the AISD Facility Master Plan. This plan outlines recommendations for renovating and modernizing the AISD facilities. It also includes recommendations for some school consolidations. For Doss, the committee has recommended providing relief for the overcrowded conditions through a new school in our area and an addition to Doss. These recommendations, along with many others, will be considered as the district develops the November 2017 bond package. Feel free to email me if you want more information or you can go to the Austin ISD website and search Facility Master Plan.
Cans Cans Cans! Please talk with your students about supporting the Doss 3rd grade can food drive. The cans donated go to help families in the Austin area through the Capitol Area Food Bank. In our Friday assembly today, we talked about the importance of giving to others by bringing cans for this cause. Thanks for supporting our efforts!
2016-2017 Calendar: Did you enjoy having the week off for Thanksgiving? Then please be sure to cast your vote for the 2017-2018 calendar. Cast your vote by going to austinisd.org and scrolling on the home page for the Calendar Survey.
Office Clerk: We are looking for a part time clerk in the office. If you know someone who is interested, please contact Adriana at 414-4152.
Campus Copiers: We have new copiers on campus! These new copiers will require a log in from staff members. Volunteers will need to enter an account log in and password. That information will be sent out later next week through the lead room parents via Living tree. We will have a training on the new machines at the end of our faculty meeting on Monday. Please let us know if you are having difficulty and need assistance.
Smellin’ Good: Have you noticed that the smell in the building has improved? We have addressed the smell in the halls and determine that it was caused by a change in custodial cleaning methods. We are back on track with our cleaning protocols (using the correct chemicals).
Doss Dads: On Tuesday morning, November 6th , from 8:00-9:00 am, I am inviting the Doss dads to come to school! We will meet in the Doss cafeteria for coffee and conversation. I hope to see all Dads then!
Faculty Meeting: Monday November 5th
BLEND: Thank you to everyone who signed up for the BLEND training on Tuesday November 6th. I look forward to learning more and sharing with the rest of the campus.
Have a great weekend!
